Pneumococcal Prevention Vaccine Study

Rochester Clinical Research (RCR) is enrolling volunteers for a research study testing an investigational pneumococcal vaccine. This study is looking at how safe the vaccine is and how well it helps the body build protection against pneumococcal disease.

Age Range: 65 to 100
Gender: Male and Female
Location: Rochester, New York

About the Study

Pneumococcal disease is caused by bacteria that can lead to serious illnesses like pneumonia, blood infections, and meningitis. Even though vaccines already exist, this disease still affects many adults.

Qualifications

You may qualify if you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have never received a pneumococcal vaccine
  • Have never had invasive pneumococcal disease or pneumococcal pneumonia
  • Are generally healthy (Some people with stable, controlled health conditions may still qualify. The study team will review your medical history to be sure).

You may not qualify if you:

  • Have already received a pneumococcal vaccine
  • Have had invasive pneumococcal disease
  • Have certain immune system conditions
  • Are currently pregnant (a pregnancy test is required for women who can become pregnant)
