About the Study

The purpose of this study is to try to extend protection against pneumococcal disease beyond the current vaccine. Pneumococcal diseases include pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis, ear infections, and sinus infections. This study vaccine would include the 20 strains covered by the current approved vaccine and would cover an additional 5 strains. The study vaccine also enhances the immune response to a certain type of protein.

In this study, there is a 0% chance of a placebo. This means that everyone participating will receive an active vaccine. In addition to the study visits, you will be required to have bloodwork done at each visit (60mL each), use an electronic diary to record any symptoms for 7 days after the vaccine is given (provided or an app), a UPT (if applicable), have a physical exam, discuss your medical history, and have your vitals checked.

There is no cost for participating in our research study and you will be compensated for your time and travel.
