Heart Disease & Inflammation Study

Adults 18 years of age and older with elevated inflammation levels and heart disease or certain health conditions that increase the risk of heart disease may qualify for a clinical research study evaluating an investigational medication.

Age Range: 18 to 100
Gender: Male and Female
Location: Buffalo, New York

About the Study

Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury or illness. However, when inflammation remains elevated over time, it may increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular problems. A blood test called high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) can help measure inflammation levels in the body.

Many adults living with heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease continue to have elevated inflammation despite receiving standard medical care. Researchers are studying new approaches that may help reduce this inflammation and improve future cardiovascular health.

This clinical research study is evaluating clazakizumab, an investigational medication, to determine whether it can reduce elevated inflammation in adults with increased cardiovascular risk. Researchers will compare clazakizumab with placebo to evaluate its effectiveness, safety, and tolerability.

Participation may last approximately 9 months and includes a screening period, study treatment, regular clinic visits, laboratory testing, health assessments, and follow-up visits. Qualified participants will receive study-related care throughout the study.

Qualifications

You may be able to join if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Have elevated inflammation levels (hsCRP) that can be confirmed during screening.
  • Have heart disease or have obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease.
  • Are willing to attend study visits and follow study procedures.

Other qualifications may apply during screening process.
